1971 original exhaust
I will soon be installing a complete set of new 2 1/2" pipes and original style mufflers on a 1971 350ci car.
A local Corvette restoration shop told me that the pipes were not welded at the rear where they connect to the inlet pipe on the mufflers.
I have a restoration guide that says there were welded and no clamps used at that location.
Does anyone know which is correct?

I believe that they were welded on the input to the mufflers.

Mine were (71 LS5), but no clue if that was factory or not.

While not knowing the definative answer, if my back were to the wall I'd guess at welded - as were most cars of that era.

Thanks to everyone
Sounds like all advice is pointing toward welded as the restoration guide stated.
My local shop may just be mistaken
Thanks everyone
