Ignition replacement on 81 Vette
Help, I did the unpardonable... I misplaced my ignition & door keys on my 81 Vette. I just got a new ignition switch w/keys & new door locks w/keys from Mid-America Corvette. I need help replacing the ignition switch. Thanks guys, Bob J Happy New Year while you're at it.

Your not going to like this.
Remove the steering wheel
Pemove the turn signal switch just enough to get it oveer the steering shaft.
Remove the screw that passes thru the lock cylindar.
Put the lock cylindar in RUN and pull it out
Reverse for reassembly.
That sounds deceptively simple, watch for broken plastic parts

Here are some fairly complete instructions on replacing your ignition lock cylinder. Go to the following websight address:

BTW, the ignition switch on your T&T column is mounted on top of the steering column down under the dash. Your ignition lock cylinder is located in the steering column head and it is the part where you insert your ignition key.
