Ok, been troubleshooting this for a while. Need some help.
I thought the car was tuned well, then after running her through the gears and slowly braking to slow down she died on me. Since then, she has died whenever I have had to brake since then. Also I have noticed that my secondary boosters are dripping...... I have adjusted the needle, idle mixture screws, everything, with no fix. Any guesses? This is such a headache, I've already had 3 carb fires..... just to get the car started today. Very frustrating indeed.....
Oh yea, car is a 71 L48 w/ holley 4150 650cfm 4bbl carb.
Ok.... I adjusted the choke so its full open and she works great now.... I knew the choke wasn't all the way open like it should be.. but didn't think it would make this huge of a difference. I still don't understand how it was working great one second and the next it needs a choke adjustment.... I'm talking same day! I havn't run it yet outside the garage, but she seems to be in good order... time will tell
From: Who says "Nothing is impossible" ? I've been doing nothing for years.
You are going to get dripping again, common problem with Holley and BG carbs is trash in the needle and seat, remove and blow it out with compressed air
Also check that the float is not sticking intermittantly - this will cause flooding and secondary dripping as well as fuel exiting the secondary shafts to the hot intake!! Check the left/right alignment.
