Car runs great under almost all driving conditions. Under this condition, though, there is a clacking sound...
Driving down the highway at speed, and the car is fine, even up and down hills at cruise...it's great. At heavy load (accelerating with secondaries open, mostly uphill) it "clacks." That's the best way to categorize the sound. Is this valve lash that needs to be tightened? I have no idea whether the cam is hyd, solid, or roller (either)...
You can try a couple of things. Either put a can of octane booster in you fuel, or back the timing down a couple of degrees. The latter will decrease you performance a little but is cheaper and will keep the drivability. (at your altitude you already have lost significant performance)

Re: "Clacking" noise from engine (rainman69)
It’s the sound of your pistons slapping against the cylinder walls caused by detonation. Use octane buster and pray the walls aren’t gouged. Keep tabs on oil consumption.
