Not to highjack the thread, but maybe someone here can answer a simple question about the LM-1. They don't respond to the question at their web site.
How sensitive is the unit to electrical interference? I run a Mallory CD box, solid core plug wires, non-resistor plugs, and only some of the ignition shielding.
I have a Vericom G-analyzer and it will not work in the car, even on its own 12 volt battery source. There is just too much electrical noise and the unit goes haywire. I'm wondering if an LM-1 would do the same. Like I said, they don't respond to the question one way or the other at their web site.
Anyone???
I run one with a Mallory CD box but I run resistor plugs and not solid core wires and have no problems
I'm going to install Dynojet Wideband commander on my 78 this week. http://www.widebandcommander.com/
It includes an RPM input as well as previsions for MAP and TPS inputs. I report back on how it worked.
Got it all connected up with no problems. I was able to connect the tach input directly to the HEI tach output without any adapter required. I can log the A/F and RPM during my testing runs. I have the A/F gauge mounted on my steering column. This is a nice product and is definitely worth looking into. I will post some photo's later on the install and final A/F results. I currently have an idle at 13.8, cruse at 15.5-16 and wot at 13.
If you motor runs OK then you have a pretty good baseline already
Yep, these initial results are from following the methods Lars describes in his Q-jet tuning papers. Thats darn close enough for me. It proves you can get good results without an A/F gauge but they sure do make life easer. Fortunately I have a car buddy that loaned me this A/F setup. I would have a hard time justifying the $$$ for my own.
