Hey guys spring is a few months from now and its time (for all of us) to start thinking "what else can i do to my baby?" im just looking for some ideas to give my 80' L48 some more power and some ideas to let it breath a little easier. I already have a set of headman headers, edlbrock aluminum intake manifold, k&n filter, 2 1/2 inch pipes that lead to dynomax ultra flo mufflers with no cats. so if anyone has any ideas for me just shoot i want to hear them so i can figure out my options. keep in mind though nothing insane! just small to medium ideas for better performance.

As the old saying goes...speed costs money...how fast do want to go?
A budget would help in what direction to go.
This has been discussed many timese here. You might want to do a search to get some ideas.
Assuming the bottom end is good..
The obvious is a mild cam upgrade about $250 with you doing the labor. More cam would require reworking the heads to accomodate the lift. It's more cost effective to get new heads, which are more efficient than your old smog heads vs reworking / rebuilding your old heads
A pair of vortec heads (reworked for higher lift) is your best bang for $650, but this requires a new vortec intake so add another $200. And go a lttlle wilder on the cam.
For $850 (vortec heads and iintake) your close to some aftermarket alum heads like Trick Flow @ ($1100)
When you add it up, heads, cam intake gaskets, your time, again no contracted labor your at $1500.
A crate engine is a good option. If numbers matching is not an issue Year one has a vortec roller 350 ci, with 400+ hp and 400+ ft lbs of torque for $2995 plus shipping.
best of luck...
