Default Hardtop Advice

My 73 ragtop was optioned with the C07 Auxiliary Hartop, but alas has long disappeared. I would like to know what I could expect to pay to find one. My vette still has the center hole on the boot to receive it so I thought it would be cool to find one. Also, did this option typically come in the same color as the body? I know that a vinyl top option was also available, but my car was not speced for it so I want to get a body color. Finally, will 1968 through 1975 fit?

I believe you will need a late ’69 or later top if you want the center bolt. It will need to be the same color as the rest of the car to be correct. Good luck!

There was an option for the hardtop, it could either be ordered painted body color or with black vinyl covering. My top was originally vinyl covered, but Bubba peeled it off and painted it body color.
I've been investigating getting mine recovered with the black vinyl at a local shop. At least one fellow here on the forum took his to a shop, along with a copy of the page out of the AIM on how to install the vinyl. He said it turned out perfectly.
I understand that finding the right texture of vinyl used on the tops is hard to find or unavailable, but unless you are a freak for NCRS correctness available vinyl should be close enough.

Expect to pay $250 (for terrible shape) to $1,500 for perfect condition. I found one for $375 with a decent headliner, then just had to paint it.

I paid 700 for a very good black vinyl top hard top. Probably could have done better but this was local and in very good shape

I've looked at 3 over the past 2 years. One was white vinyl and in "well used" condition and would have needed all rubber for $500.-, one was black vinyl in good original condition for $700.-, and the last one was "like new" painted red for $1,200.-. I should have bought the black vinyl one
