1971 Radiator removal
Car is a 71 / 350 / 4 sped / W/O AC
When removing , does the suport and radiator come out together or one at a time?
My car also had the wrong radiator installed sometime in the past.
It is a Automatic car radiator and the upper radiator hose neck is also not correct. The proper neck points up about 45 degrees and turns in about 90 desgres. The neck on my car turns in only about 45 degrees and has little upward bend. It is a 26" copper unit W/O a overflow system.
I have looked at photos of many cars 71 thru 79 and have not found any photos to help me know what year car it actually fits.
The radiator works fine and I would want to sell to off set my expenses.
Duragno Boy , help!!!! please. I still have not learned how to post a photo. Could I e-mail you a photo to be posted to the string?
Thanks
David

But I do thank you for the assistance.

David, it's really very easy. Go to Photobucket.com, sign up for free, have the images you want ready to be uploaded, and just follow the steps in this guide.
You can feel free to email me anytime for help on this or anything else. Just remember posting an image is just using the raw link from that image at the hosting site, and adding a at the end. Just copy the link that already has those tags directly into the thread, and that's all there is to it.
If you quote someone's post that has an image posted, you can see the actual text code of how it should look.

Well , I am making some progress in posting photos. The only difference this time ove rthe last attampts is that I hit the preview opion 1st before actually posting.
In any case thanks to Durango Boy for getting me squared away on the posting of photos
As for the Radiator , the 1st photo shows the shape and bend of the upper neck. I have never see this shape / style before and would not know how to list it to sell once ready to do so.
Does anyone know what year Corvette this may have come from?
Or is it a local radiator shop hybrid?

I couldn't tell from your post if you're clear as to what your car had originally. 350/270, 4 speed, no a/c. Aluminium radiator (DeWitts), simple round black metal shroud and aluminium overflow tank (DeWitts). This is the neatest looking set-up and worth the $$$$ for looks alone.
If you knew all this.... then just 'Hi'. Pictures of your car ( little I could see) look terrific.
Regards,
Alan
PS: I take the radiator out first before the support.

The car is a LT-1 model. The radiator was replaced years ago by the previous owner. I have no clue as to what year car it came from.
The shroud is the plastic unit not metal.
The copper radiator in 1971 on bith base and LT-1 cars had a completly different upper neck.
Also this radiator is from an automatic car ( has cooling line fittings )
I will be buying a correct radiator , but to sell the one in the car to off set the expense of the new one I would like to find out what is in the car now.
My plan is to buy an original type copper unit.
Thanks

Looks like an OEM radiator for a 71 w/auto tranny.
Shroud is correct for your LT-1 (as would be the radiator if it didn't have the auto tranny hook up.
Easiest to remove the hood and pull the radiator, radiator support, and fan shroud as an assembly.
There are several recent excellent posts on this subject via search.

I am good to go with the help you and others have given on the removel.
But I am still left wondering what year model car this came from.
I have also ordered the correct upper hose and it does not fit due to that uppen neck not having the 90 degree bend inward
Thanks
