I took my car out for a 2hour drive on HWY(9) and on the way home I was getting kick backs on my rpms @2,500. I checked my oil and spark plugs but they seem okay. Has anyone had this problem before?

Lag of power to the wheels, feels like the car wanted to stall.

Check your timing, then look at your fuel system, particularly the sock-filter in the tank.

First check the fuel pressure.

Next, there is a rubber fuel hose that runs from the fuel pump to the fuel line.

It is very common for that hose to be deteriorated, therefore spilling fuel back into the tank and not supplying enough fuel to the injectors.

When I replaced my fuel pump, that was the first thing I noticed...(crumbling rubber hose)...

The best things I ever did to fix my CFI:

1. Replace the fuel pump with a newer model, I think 87 which pushes fuel well above the 12~14 PSI needed.

2. Installed the fuel pressure gauge kit from DCS and adjusted my fuel pressure to 13ish.

3. Balanced the throttle bodies using a nanometer.

Runs great and idles smooth. I used to get stutters and lack of power at various times. The fuel pump sock I pulled out was just a mess and obviously that material was being pushed through the lines.
