Default Tire issues?

I just put AZ rallies on my 75, I had the slotted alums. with no problems, I used the same tires on the rallys and now I am getting a tire rub on the front passenger fender at the very bottom. The tires are Eagles 225 15 70. Should I go buy 215 15 70? The tires are old and need in replacment. Will a 215 tire work with a 8 inch wide rim? Thanks for the help.

I have P215/70R15's on my '69. They fit fine. Your car came originally with FR70-15 tires which are comparable.

225's [fronts] are max. size for early C3's; 235's on rear...[there may be some cars that will accept larger ones, but not that many. GM opened up the wheelwell to accept larger tires in mid-70's. You might also consider going to 60 series to reduce tire diameter, if necessary.
