So, I am kinda moving into the suspension stage (100 dollars at a time, lol), and I was wondering if there was any good reading material on this. I mean, not just corvette specific suspension books, as they tend to be more towards restoring to stock, and that is not my flavor. I am looking to improve the performance, but in order to do my own work, and thus be able to afford it, I am need of a book that can more or less explain suspension tuning to me. The ins and outs, you know? General, or in depth. I did a google search, and got some ideas, but I just wanted to know if any of you have already been here, and found good resources on the subject. Actually, on this subject, if you guys have some good books regarding body work, as well, it would be greatly appreciated, lol. I gots some learnin to do.
I thought that "How To Rebuild Corvette Rolling Chassis", published by Motorbooks Workshop, was worth every penny, being a rookie rebuilder. Available at Borders bookstores.
I actually saw that DVD for sale. Is it any good though? So far, I have bought a book from Chiltons, and a book from Haynes, and both of them have their strengths and weaknesses. These are not suspension only, of course, but repair manuals. I also found the motor books, as well. So they are pretty good? My problem is, being new to this, I tend to run into a lot of stuff that these books tend to take for granted that I should know. I need, like....the idiot's guide type stuff, lol.
Oh, and it's not about, you know, the theory behind suspension. I now the basic idea is to get your car lower, in order to have a lower center of gravity, and as such, you have to increase the shock force, make a stiffer ride, etc etc, and then adjust your camber just so, for the type of ride you want, eetc etc. It's more....HOW to do these things. If it were a piece of crap junker car, I would just dive right in, and let the chips fall where they may. But this is my father's car, and his brother's before that, and when I'm old and gray, it's gonna go to my kid. I don't want to screw up.

Does that book just talk about stock or does it go into some detail about performance?
I've spent hours upon hours reading all his posts, and he's got some great pictures.
I don't know what year you have (and I've already hit reply, so I can't see your profile ) but he provides those little tips and "what to look for" type things that you want to know.
If someone can post the forum members ID.... I feel bad not being able to give him credit.
