is bowties worth the price difference, 600 vs 1000 is quite a bit that could go eleswhere in the process, I don't know much about automatics thats why I'm asking

Well if you have a stock rebuilt TH200R4 you will be fine with stock HP, but if you ever get the bug and install a higher HP engine or make power mods to your engine you'll be pushing the limits of that transmission.
If I knew I was going to have 400 - 500 HP behind one I would want it built a lot better than stock.
Now, if you were to buy a cheap core for $200 - $300, you can rebuild it yourself with beefy parts, and save a few hundred overall.
Commercial rebuilders are known to cut corners, reuse what they can etc. I tend to agree with DB, find a core and build one with good parts yourself or have it done locally by a reputable shop. There IS a difference between quality performance clutches, seals and pumps vs "rebuild quality parts". They aren't that hard to rebuild. You will have to buy a few tools, a video and a book and Corona's!
PM me your ZIP and I will see if I can find a rebuildable core closer to you.
I just picked one up for free off the Craig’s list here locally. Out of a 86 Grand Prix. My build will be the equal to the Bowtie stage 3 trans. I can do it top notch including a stall converter for less than $1,800.
I was dumb and got one of those 2004r trans from ebay and it arrived damaged and when me and another trans guy took it apart there was nothing in there that was upgraded to 450 hp in fact there was still rust in side I did get my money back from them and got a bowtie trans. You get what you pay for and bowtie transmission is far better and well worth the price compared to the ebay one. The drum from the one on ebay would not have lasted with my horse power. Im glad it was damaged and I learned another good lesson and at least got my money back. The Scott guy that you talk to on that trans is nothing but a double talker and knows nothing about transmissions.
