Default How will this perform?

Sorry hit the wrong key last time. I have what I believe to be a stock 350 in my 75 c3. I built a 412 a year ago for another project that went away when I got the vette. I still have the engine, but with it being a 400 bored .060 over I worry about overheating. It has a completly worked over set of world products sr/t heads. milled .030 large manley swirl polished valves, manley roller rockers. pocket porting, mag pushrods ect ect. I also have a nice Lunati Voodoo cam 277/233 @50 dur and 489/504 lift. my thought was to remove the heads, cam/lifter/pushrods, and Eldebrock Streetmaster intake off the 412 and install on the 350 that is in there, along with the geardrive timing, and see how it runs. I know that the comp ratio of the 350 is really low, but how much will the .030 milling of the heads help? or should I just bite the bullet and install the 412 and go from there. thanks

Dwayne

I vote you put that 412 in the Vette. It'll be an almost direct bolt in, and the cooling shouldn't be a problem if everything is in proper order. Lots of guys here have 400s in their cars, as I will soon.

Question - Do the heads you have on the 400 have the steam holes drilled? That will cause some problems if you do not.

That 412 in a C3 will be kick - azz.

yea I had the machinest drill the holes while he was redoing the rest of the heads. currently it has speed pro hyperutectic flat tops w/telflon coated skirts, long eagle rods. block decked .010 scat crank, balanced and blueprinted. we had it dynoed, with large tube headers and found it was 505hp, 690 ftrq. at the flywheel. Not only worried about heat (current 350 never has a problem), but what other problems I am going find. is there somewhere that I need to beef up before I kill the entire car. I have a shift kit in the th400, solid ujoints, 2800 stall. if it will work may try it next weekend

That is a lot of power for a stock drive train, but a problem is a problem no matter what engine is int he car. If you have a weak spot it needs to be found and fixed no matter the engine size or power.
