Default Do not buy from Inline Tube!!

I listed this in the tech section only becasue they deal with tech parts and everyone should be aware of them. I bought a prop valve recently from them and turns out that it came in with a slight 1/16 bend in the brass male tip that turns on the brake lights. I called them up to notify them and they said not to worry about it as long as you can connect the female connector. I tried and no problems at all.

To make a long story short I ended up purchasing the wrong year without ever connecting it to the brake system (no fluid has ever run through it). Returned it for an exchange, no money back becasue I just wanted SS lines for the car now. They denied me becasue it was bent. Even after I told them it shipped this way and their tech said it was OK they said to take it up with UPS.

I told them I was going to do that and call the BBB, their response was go ahead.

Here is what they have on file at the BBB for the last 3 years (5 complaints)

PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

I bought brake and fuel lines from In-Line for my 1955 Pickup restoration. Everything worked and they also bent a carb fuel line to a wire templet I made.
No problems with them.

Another vendor bashing post. Yawn. At least you called them before flailing away on the forum.

I've heard nothing but good things about Inline Tube from the old truck guys, and they've often gone above and beyond in replicating lines for vehicles that they hadn't previously stocked.

Sorry to be soooo boring

There are always going to be some bad relations at some companies, but this was pathetic with a I don't give a **** attitude.

BBB shows that others feel the same way...just want everyone to be careful.

Nothing wrong with relating a bad experience and presenting the facts so that others know what's going on. Over-the-top ranting tends to hurt one's case, IMHO. I think the recent ball joint thread is a good example - the poster simply told us what happened to him and recommended checking similar parts from that source in order to avoid problems and to see if the issue was isolated or widespread.

Just to add to the boredom, last year I bought a set of 63 Parking Brake Cables (63 are unique) from Inline which they not only advertised as being 100% identical to the originals but on the phone with them I got a verbal confirmation on some of the details. I received the cables and they were not even close. Wrong ends and had a splice in the middle of the long one.

I called them about it and they were basically of the attitude, too bad. Still in the boxes unused they then told me I could return them but only with a restocking fee (which was either 25 or 35%). I ended up doing a Chargeback on my credit card and filed a complaint. I sent the bogus ones back to them and my CC company agreed with me and the chargeback stood. I got a full refund but lots of aggravation.

I would not have brought it up but figured I'd add to this so the OP knows he's not the only one who has had a problem.

Hmmm

Anyhow, my dealings with them were very satisfactory. The brake lines I received were fine. And what most impressed me was that they made a couple of custom ss brakes lines to use with my rear Stainless Steel Brake Corporation aluminum calipers (the brake lines enter the aluminum calipers at a different location than stock.) I was impressed that they accomodated me with a special request, especially since it must have took some of their time and they didn't charge me very much money.

Sounds like they have some helpful and some not-so-helpful employees.

I understand your frustration, but 5 complaints is not a very big deal with a nationally known company like that. I used to work for a major restoration supplier with the intials YO, and as good as their customer service is/was, just how good could depend solely on who you talked to. I know that I was far more accomodating than many of the reps, and its probably the case with them, too. I'd call back and see if you get a different answer.

I've been buying brake lines, cables and brake components from them for about 20 years now and I've never had a problem. Parts fit well and have been of very good quality. I've done GTOs, Camaros and Vettes using their parts. Pricing has been good, tech support has been accurate, and they ship quickly.

No issues here. They are a local company for me and I have bought ss brake, fuel & transmission lines from them with about a 1 day turnaround time.

Did you pay with a credit card? Maybe you can dispute the charge?

I ordered a set of reproduction part tags from them for a 69 H/O I had ... most were not correct according to the assembly manual ... I brought this to their attention ... and of course they didn't care.

I too will never deal with them again. I've read similar stories on the pontiac forums.

Think about that for a min. How many folks actually write a letter to the BBB for asistance? Most folks bitch alot, but never follow through.

I am glad to hear that there are some folks not having issues.

I guess it just sucks when it happens to you... I am sure we all have a story about getting screwed sooner or later and I just got zinged.

I fell better now that I have vented...must be that time of the month for me.

"I think" one of the great things about "our" free market system is that you can tell your friends when you have a problem with someones product or service.

The BBB is in business to make money. They might have started out with good intentions but now have surely changed priorities. I have called the BBB 2 times when I was taken advantage of. They contacted the other co and let them know I had a problem and asked them to refund. The other side said no and it was over.

I appreciate your post. I would like a perfect transaction if possible but if you cant do it at least apologize. At the worst be neutral. Dont be an ahole. And if the co has a few bad employees they might need to be hurt before they take the time to look up and make some changes...

Good job..

Hmm...the only attack I see in this thread is the one directed at Inline Tube. Emotion-filled, vendor-bashing posts aren't helpful to anyone on the forum. Facts about problematic dealings with vendors are helpful.

I missied this one .. Of course I am attacking Inline they screwed me! I am not saying they will do it to everyone, but I want everyone to be aware that is all. True, it was only a $100 product, but we need posts like this so that when or if it happens on an engine folks will continue to write about it. It also allows us to make a better decission making capabilities by having all the info up front.

I look at this like Consumer Reports... They tell you what is good and what is bad then you decide whether you want to buy it or not.

Emotion- Filled?? I simply stated what had happened

If you cant get used to guys who have nothing else to do but troll threads and post negative comments, when they have no real input. CF is the wrong place for you..

This is the reason they do it. So when someone says something, they "finally" have something to do. Argue!!!! weather their right or not..

You will never win. As soon as you complain they are in Heaven...
