Default Headlight Issues

Here's the story. When i bought my vette the headlights were stuck in the up position, I noticed that the vacuum switch under the dash was missing so i installed a new one. The lights went down! Now the problem is that i cannot get them to go back up.

If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

If you want them up until you can figure out the problem, just get on the ground, reach up through the three hole panel under the nose, and push the lights into the up position and lock the knees in place so they stay up.

Then, you can still drive it at night while you track down your problem.

Start at the dash. Make sure you have the proper headlight switch and the cutoff switch.

Then test for vacuum and see if you have a leak somewhere. Test the relays and actuators.

Just eliminate everything you can as a possible problem.

www.corvette-101.com has a vacuum troubleshooting guide that will help you through some of the checks and maybe find your problem.

I'm 99% sure that all the vacuum hoses are in the right place. So how would i go about testing the vacuum, actuators and relays?

I had mine for the longest time go down fine but wouldn't go up. Every time it got dark, I had to reach up from underneath and push them up. I would suggest new actuator seals at about $20 per side it's a cheap and easy fix that worked for me. Now mine work like brand new.
