Default new front window, small gaps??

Just had new front window installed today, couple of questions, see pics.

1. there is a small gap between window rubber and metal frame, does this gap need filling with sealant??, if so what kind of sealant??, or is it better left empty, so it drys out better when wet??

2. when I put silver trim back on, do I put some sealant between window and trim, to stop water incress??

cheers

That was intended to be a drain for water . But it also traps dirt and it builds up over time. Add that to mositure, and rust will start behind the mouldings. Now that would apply for a car driven every day in all the elements. If you have a good seal at the windshield I would leave it alone. You could put the mouldings back on and run a small bead of clear silicone between the glass and the mouldings. This will help to keep the dirt build up behind the mouldings
