Default 68 door hardware removal

Hey guys,
I'm getting my 68 ready to take to the painter. I'm stripping all the chrome from the car and i'm down to the doors.I've got the inner panels off, the outside handle and inner felt.I've removed the bottom stops in the window chanels, but the window still dosn't go down enough to access the screws for the outer felt, and also I've removed the two nuts from the top of the pushbutton, what do you have to do to release it.
Thanks,
Dave

You're going to have to pull the glass to access those screws. Should be pretty easy since you have the panels off. Did your painter request that you remove that?

Really no need to remove the push button. Take the outer bezel off and the painter can tape the push button

Thanks for the replys.
My painter requested the outer felt to be removed.I'm removing everything, I don't want anything masked.Although removing just the outer bezel for the pushbutton would be ok.
Thanks again,
Dave

There are stops at the bottom of each of the two window tracks that you may be able to loosen or remove to allow the glass to slip down a little further to allow you access to the screws to the trim strip that attaches the outer felt.

The stops are held in place with philips head screws that you can reach through access holes in the door frame.

I believe there are also a couple of rivets that you'll have to drill out that hold that strip in place.

I'd recommend avoiding removing the glass. It was a bit of a pain to get back in.
