If you install a crank trigger kit for EFI such as the MSD ir Mallory kits is the trigger ring mounted between the balancer and the pulleys?? If so, does this cause alignment problems with the pulleys or is the ring thin enough that the offset is insignificant?
Gene, Yes, it mounts on the harmonic balancer behind the pulleys. and yes, you have to account for the offset. You probably have enough room on a small block, but on my BB, it interfered with the front crossmember. I didn't want to cut a hunk out of the front crossmember so I went with the dual sync distributor. How are you planning on getting a cam sync?
well, the DFI info says you can modify an existing distributor by removing the additional reluctors but all of this is making the dual sync distributor look more appealing. I just thought the actual crank trigger would probably be more accurate.

cant help you as far as placement goes other than to say measure the thickness of the disc and put some spacer between the block/heads and accessory's. as for everything else check out MSD's site, they've got pages and pages of instructions on how to install it.

That's kinda the conclusion I came to with RamJet. I got impatient and decided to get on the road, thinking I could attack direct crank pickup on my next mod
How are you coming along? Have you given any thought to bringing the 408 up here and putting it on an engine dyno or are you going to street/chassis dyno tune it.
It's coming along good Bob. My head port work is done and the valve work should be complete and reassembled this week or early next. I have everything else I need for assembly other than the dual sync and pushrods which I will have to check length and order. I would love to get this thing tuned before I put it back in. I will call you about the details of that.
