I believe it is slightly longer in the nose.
I have a 76 rear clip and hood,and i ck'd it against my 81 and it's 1" longer than the 81 hood.I'm not sure if thats a fluke or if it's across the board.Steve
Other than the latch mechanism what is the difference in a 76 versus 80 hoods?
I just received the "restoration package" from Chevy and it mentions that the '76 hood is unique to that year. It is something about the air induction previously from the Cowl area and a howling sound that existed also. Starting in '76. that air is feed from the front of the car. Below is verbage I just found on the Web that states something close to what the resto package says:
Both engines(L-48 & L-82) breathed through an intake that was now in front of and above the radiator instead of at the cowl near the windshield. The change was made to remedy the noise of air being gulped in so close to the passenger compartment

The things that makes the '76 hood unique is that it still has the rear hood grill that was dropped in '77, and it doesn't have the underhood hardware that was needed for the cowl induction used from '73-'75.....
