Default Exhaust kit

Ok well im tired of all the leaks i have with the hack job 2.25 inch exhaust that the muffler center here built for my car. Is there a kit for a 75 Auto th400 car. I am looking for 2.5 since i have the yearone motor. Has anyone built their own 2.5 system or is there a kit. Thanks

I bought the stainless Pypes system from Summit. It has a 2.5" dual exhaust with the x pipe in stainless steel. Cant tell you how it works yet as I am going to install this weekend hopefully. I had another thread running asking if anyone else has done this and so far no takers. But it is a really beautiful system lying under the car, just hope it all fits up as good as it looks..... You can run it with either headers or the OEM exhaust manifolds.

Shark - is this the kit you got -

Looks like a good system and price. Will be very interested in hearing how the install went. Will also be interested in how it sounds with those mufflers vs say magnaflows.

Thanks.

Go visit a local exhaust shop. They can do a complete manifold back true dual 2.5" custom bend system to fit the under side of your car, with mufflers, installed and welded properly for under $500, maybe less. You won't have to pay shipping on the exhaust, and they will be able to custom bend everything so it fits snug up under your car.

Not in huntsville. I have a custom built exhuast on the car already. The Muffler Center is not a chain store did it and its a hack job the bends go form 2.25 to less the 2 inches. There is not a place here that will do a mandrel bend custom exhaust and also most places want to put a cat on the car.

I learned the same when researching dual exhaust for my Ram Hemi. Also, nobody doing mandrel bending. That's why the system that L82Shark is installing sounds very interesting.

Silver - are you a member of either of the 2 No. AL clubs?

Wow - is that with illegal labor? Out here it would be at least double that at even the cheapest shops...

Last Sept I got a quote from a custom exhaust shop by Capital raceway in MD. For a stainless 2 1/2" mandrel bent system with from headers back (x pipe) and I supply the mufflers the cost was $1,200~$1,500 and two days work. I thought it was outrageous but the shops position was the mandrel bends have to be exact and if they make a mistake the piece can't be re-bent so it's very time consuming process. My position was no thanks I will by parts and build my own system. This is my winter project this year.

The place that did mine did it from the headers to the back, with two Magnas, and they did it in five hours. I dropped it off before work, and picked it up after lunch.

Default Exhaust System

What about one of our supporting vendors:
http://www.corvettecentralexhaust.com/
I got a true dual for my 78 and it was easy to install. Had to buy a bracket to change from single pipe support at the transmission to a dual pipe support. Wish my car was out of storage, I would have sent a picture.

Something to keep in mind is the manifold outlet size. If your running stock manifolds you have a 2" outlet. Almost all of the aftermarket system systems have a 2" manifiold outlet pipe that goes into a 2 1/2" pipe that leads out the back.

check this list...no 2.5" manifold listed for small blocks..

while trying not to sound like a salesman for Pypes (at least till I see how my system works) I was looking at connecting to my stock manifolds. In order to do this, you have to buy their manifold connector pipe which is separate from the system. Its either 2" or 2 1/4", I dont remember which, but anyway, seems they have the manifold option covered. In the end I went ahead and bought a set of Hedmans to put on. But I still think its a very good price for a stainless system.

Hi guys, I'm not trying to highjack this thread. I wanted to know if this system will fit on an 80 4-speed car, or will I need a new crossmember? If I do need a crossmember, what years would make good donors and where can I find one.
