Thanks

If you have an '80 manual car then I think your cross member is welded in, and would have to be cut out to be replaced with a bolt in style.

It is a bolt in crossmember. If you look at this ebay listing mine looks just like the one on the right.

Okay that'll help a lot if you do have to find an earlier style cross member for the exhaust openings.

You can run it with either headers or the OEM exhaust manifolds.
L82Shark - did the install happen? Curious to learn more and maybe see some pics. Thanks.

No, ran into a problem with a bent crossmember. Going to replace it before I go any further but I did lay the system out and take some pics. I dry fitted everything on the ground and it went together smooth. Looks like it comes with everything you need.

If I can find a new crossmember will try again this weekend!

Bummer about the cross member.

Thanks for the pics - that system really looks sweet.

A couple other questions....
1. Are you connecting to stock manifolds?
2. You mentioned your muffler choice, how does that compare (sound wise) to the magnaflow? Also, is there a price difference?
3. How long did it take to arrive after ordering?

Ok, slightly more than a "couple" questions

I was going to use the stock manifolds but I changed my mind and have new headers to install with it.

I went with the Racepro, they have some soundbites on their website with some testimonials and it seemed these were more to what I wanted than the streetpro.

It took about 3 or 4 weeks for it to get to me. Ship date kept changing, I dont know if that was because I was using Summit as the middle man or what. But the $$ between the website and Summit made it worth the wait. It actually arrived a couple of weeks before the last estimated ship date Summit sent me. I was going to use the time to make sure everything was ready when it got here but I got hung up on the body mounts and rear end rebuild. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update. Looks like a good system. What year is your car and what transmission do you have? I tried hedman header extension on my 75 with a th400 and the 2.5 mandrel pipe hit the tranny pan. I also have a b&m deep aluminum pan so that my be it.

Forgot to mention one thing, if you currently arent running duals make sure you order a dual exhaust hanger kit, no matter what system you go with. It helps tie the exhaust up through the crossmember openings so it doesnt bang around.

Is this with headers? If so what ones?

I got a true dual for my 78 and it was easy to install. Had to buy a bracket to change from single pipe support at the transmission to a dual pipe support. Wish my car was out of storage, I would have sent a picture.
Their kits are a good value and easy to install in most cases without welding. They also have options for different mufflers depending on your need for loudness.

Contact Mike Allen at Allen's Stainless Exhaust Systems.

http://www.allencorvetteexhaustsystems.com/

I'm sure he can help you. My '74 has headers and I have one of Mike's 2-1/2" systems on my car. It is a true 2-1/2" system including the mufflers.
