how tight should a rebuilt shifter be ?
I'm rebuilding my shifter, and I've gotten to the step where you decided which shift link you put in: a new original thickness one, or the thicker one.
I was able to get the thicker one in, but it makes the shift linkage tight. How tight should the levers be? It's still out of the car, so I can't tell how much effort it's going to take to move the shift lever through the gears. I didn't want to put the original thickness link in there, because that sort of defeats the purpose of rebuilding the shifter so it's not sloppy. But if the thicker one is too tight, then I guess I'll have to use the thinner link.
