Default 73 Seat Belts

Question does anyone know if the 73 came with a shoulder harness? It shows it in the owner manual coming through the seat and I do have the plastic housing in the rear of the car. Even when I've looked for the correct seats I've yet to find them with an area were the seatbelt would come through? THX.

Mine has them thru the seats. It also has the plastic covers in the rear. I believe they were an option.

Federal Safety mandate , all cars built after Jan 1, 1968 should have had them.
The shoulder harness should come through the top of the seat and can be clipped on to the lap belt or left off.

Yep, per Vette Vues Fact Book, lap and shoulder belts were standard on the '73 coupes. Lap belts were standard on the vert and a shoulder belt option (Custom Shoulder Belt) was available for the vert, RPO85, at a cost of $41.

Seats are all the same. There are some special pieces needed to accept the shoulder harness through the seat. I believe the parts are available reproduction items since this seems to be a common upgrade done during "restorations" .

The parts you need are on all coupes. The trim on the front with the hole L&R. Rear trim L&R. A metal bracket that screws to the seat frame and holds the rear trim screws L&R. The brackets are not made in reproduction that I know of as the demand would be small.
