well, i kind of like tire squeal off the line, so if my xe262 (218/224) ever wipes, i may try the summit 214/224. the 224/234 u have is a bit low on stoplight tq as u report. But that means less tickets for u, important for a guy 18.
it'll squeal off the line with no problem! what i mean is that it won't go out of control. now see i have my stock torque converter in my th350, so if i would bump it up to maybe a 1800-2000 stall i will tell a great difference.
btw what is the "stock" converter for a th350? something like 1100 stall?!?
GM specs for my 72 th400 say 2110,
and that's where my tach jumps to
Maybe someone with the GM restoration package will chime in for yours.
Where does the dyno graph show the torque band?
like from what min/max rpm does it stay above 300tq

it reaches 300 ft. lbs of torque at about 3200 rpms, and it goes as high as 340. it goes right back to 300 at about 5300 rpms
so where does it shift in Drive, floored?
5000?
job isn't done until u raise the governor rpm!
idk...it maybe shifts at 3,300 or so...it what it always was. are you talking about the governer for the distributor or for the transmission? i set the governor in my distributor to top out at about 6700 rpms.
as for right now, i just kick it down manually into second and shift at about 5,000. but i'll tell ya, it sure doesn't take long to get there! lol
Hmm. Roller lifters get you an HP increase but I never have heard of that kind of an increase from roller rockers. I may do a little bit of asking around.
it might have to do with other parts of the engine ( i had a 427 bored 30 over, 520 lift cam, polished and gasket matched heads, 850 edlebrock, msd 6a, performer rpm intake , hooker super comp headers, and harland sharpe roller rockers ). the only true way to tell is run 2 dyno's with and without.
actually when i'm at the computer i just play everything in my iTunes library rather than the iPod!!
i'm just not too excited about cutting a hole in the hump as it won't be before long until i install another trans (either a 2004r or some manual) in the car...i'm also getting another car in a month or so for college, so i'll just drive my vette on weekends. i can always shift manually though when i wanna be wild.
Maybe with a ratio change, but even then its VERY doubtful. If you add up manufacturer's HP claims, we'd all have 1000 hp engines! Its what F-body guys call "Ricer math".

i replaced the heads (maybe 40 hp increase), cyclone manifold (had performer, it's a clone), same cam, added block huggers (maybe 10 hp?), got 75 more hp from dyno tuning, plus roller rockers (whatever it is). anyway, i gained almost 100 rwhp, so figuring all these things, i'm guessing the rockers gave me atleast 15-20 hp. i don't know...maybe more.
but see part of my lack of hp before the buld was also because it wasn't tuned correctly...it was on the the most part, but a few more hp could have been produced from that engine.
i took it out today...it shifts at exactly 4,500 rpms. it's dead on...i'm guessing that's what it was stock for a turbo 350
sure was easy to go up to 4500 from 3300.
the th350 governor is in a different location than a th400. i dont have 1 to look at
Hint: do a search, or crawl under when u get bored.
did u set the tv cable?
1. open clip
2. hold throtle 100% wide open(could try ~75% to "fool it")
3. close clip
4. test drive

i'll take a look at it once i have the time. like i said i may just deal with it for a while until i replace the transmission. but i'll try it though.
thanks a lot!
