Anyone have the steps to remove and replace the 69 upper dash? My original one has a crack the size of the Grand Canyon, and I'm replacing it w/ an original used one......thanks for any help, stay safe, john
other than the obvious screws, the only difficult part are the two dash braces that extend out from the lower part of the windshield frame. it's a real pain to get to the screws that attach the pad to these braces. the pad has clips that engage the windshield frame, so the pad has to be drawn rearward to remove. all in all, not a fun job.

Over the past 32 years, I've had the dash apart on my 72 numerous times. I've always started with removing the windshield trim, starting at the top and working down the pillars. Then remove the right dash panel for access to the support at the base of the windshield. I've included a picture showing the support. Once you get the support screw out, it should be easy to remove.
John,
If possible try and warm the pad so if you need to flex it you don't crack it. When I did my 68 I had to slightly bow it upward in the middle to fit it in place. Then as stated above lining up the cross brace to the mounting holes can be somewhat challenging. My crossbrace required some filing on the dash opening mounting holes to fit with the new pad. Leave the mounting hardware loose on the pad to crossbrace studs until you get it into place, fit it then tighten them up GENTLY! Good luck, Tom
Fordman is right, GENTLE is the key word when working on any part of the dash. It's so easy to crack the 'soft' parts or to break the center gauge bezel. CAREFUL!!!

Alan
Do what ever you can think of to soften that sucker up. You are after all replacing it with a used part that is as old as the one that you are removing!!!!!
Oh yeah.....BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck.
