Default Edelbrock question

1977 Vette/stock 350 L48. When I bought my Vette last April, it came with headers/dual exhaust, a Holley carb, and Edelbrock Streetmaster intake manifold. Since I've owned it, I've installed a new 600 Holley carb, new HEI distributor and Accel high output coil. It ran OK with the old stuff, but I figured replacing a few 30 year old parts can't hurt. It does seem to idle better now, with the new ignition. The part I'm concerned with is the intake manifold. From what I can find on the internet about this Streetmaster, it was developed and sold in the 1970's, and no one seemed too thrilled with it's performance. Edelbrock list a Performer EPS intake manifold in their catalog (part # 2701). It recommends running a 500-650 cfm carb with this manifold. Do you guys think this would be a good combo with my Holley 600?? Anyone running one of these on a stock (except for headers and duals) 350?? My local AutoZone has these manifolds in stock for $132. Just wanted to check with you experts before I buy. Also, do you think it would be a noticable improvement over the old Streetmaster that I'm currently running? Thanks for any advice.

Edelbrock's Performer EPS is an excellent intake, but it's design is optimized for their own brand of square bore carburetors. If your Holley is a square bore it will still work fine.

Is the Streetmaster a single plane or dual plane intake? If it's a single plane, a dual plane like the Performer or EPS will give you better low end and mid-range for some sacrifice at the top end. A single plane gives better performance at higher rpm's at some sacrifice in idle quality and low end performance.

Definately dump the single plane Streetmaster for the better EPS, I think you be much happier with the throttle response, and keep the Holley!

Yes, the EPS is a good match for your setup. Do it.

I'm running the EPS on my 355 with a Holly 670 SA carb. Excellent combo IMO. I did take Lars recommendation and bumped up the jets on the SA, especially since I went with headers and duals. Without checking my documentation, I recollect I'm now using 68s or 69s on the primaries and 76s on the secondaries. When I went to the SA I did have a rough, cold idle problem until changing the jets. Anyways do a search and you'll find the jet articles.
