Default Pypes exhaust system

How many forum members have a Pypes system on order or would like to get one for their C3. I ordered mine on 12/29 and was supposed to receive it on 01/12, now the arrival time is moved back to 02/29. These thing must be made out of plutonium or something. Maybe enough of a show of hands and we can shame these guys into getting busy on the important systems.

I don't know why they take so long to ship product. I ordered mine last March & it finally came in in July. I kind of expected that since it was a new system, but there can't be much excuse now for delaying shipments. It's just pipe bending now. I have not installed the system yet, but it looks quality.

What are they charging for the system? Is it the complete dual exhaust,or stock replacement?

FYI to all Forum members: Pypes is one our supporting vendors, but they seem to be more worried about Mustangs then Corvettes. I ordered a simple exhaust system at the end of December, and found out today, that they might....might......get around to building some in a couple of more weeks. You wonder why so many good American jobs are being out-sourced to countries with people who give a crap? They can sure design a nice product....but they don't have a clue about producing them.

I just saw their advertisement in Corvette Enthusiast Magazine today and was thinking it was a good looking system. I guess now I know how long it takes to get one. Looking at the system I was thinking this might go good with the LS swap too.

When they first became supporting vendors a rep would post every now and then. I've been reading the PYPES threads for a few weeks now and haven't seen them come by.

I don't even have a Pypes system and I'm not impressed by them. Some guys in the C5 forum have had problems too. Back in April, I sent them this email:

"Hello,

I am very interested in your new mandrel system for the C3. I have a '69 that currently has a muffler shop exhaust with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers. I don't like the exhaust because of the crimp bends, and the H-pipe is too cobbled together, but I love the sound of the Flowmasters. Is the Pypes C3 system available yet? I see that there are three muffler choices available; would the Violator be most comparable in sound and flow to an FM 40 series? Is it possible to purchase a system with the Violators?

Thanks"

The reply I got was:

"Availability will be mid summer. Thanks again for your interest."

you can fab the whole system for about 200 bucks including the x pipe. Thats what i plan to do. From my understanding even if you order thier system you still have to fab up the pipe from the exhaust to the headers.

Well! After hearing all this I'm crossing them off my list! No excuse for the wait periods you guys have brought to lite. I say if you're advertising something for sale, you'd better have some to ship. Too bad, cuz I saw on Ebay they also said they had systems available for my El Camino, too. I would like mandrel bent, especially on my Vette. And I see you can buy a pile of various mandrel bent piping to piece together, but thing is I dont have a welder,& dont think a bunch of clamps would look good

My Pypes system has been sitting on the shelf in my shop for a couple of months now, but the new crossmember arrived yesterday (thanks Duntov! Edward bailed me out after everyone else backordered). But I have to work this weekend, but I feel a couple of sick days coming on next week and I will try and get this thing installed to let ya'll know. Just from looking at it, it looks like an excellent, quality system. But how does it fit? I am gonna find out.

I ordered mine towards the end of November and it arrived before Christmas. I ordered it thru Summit and the day after I ordered it I got a backorder email from them, then another with an arrival date in Jan, anyway, it showed up several weeks before the arrival date. I dont know if Summit had stroke with them or not as they were advertising it as in stock and I called them on it. Also, Summit was a elofalot cheaper than the pypes website price. Hopefully I can get you some information on the fit by the end of the week. I really do like the way it looks!!

A complete dual exhaust w/o a cat? Headers or stock manifold?

you have to order the downpipes to connect to a stock manifold. Without cats. I am connecting to headers. Now, if I can just get off work.....

Called Pypes today. The "hold-up" has been a delay in getting the x-pipes and tail pipes. I was told they will be in on 2/15 and ship the following week.

I also cancelled my order and went with Summit. I just could not stand to burn-up $150. By the way, Pypes has raised the price from $599 to $619 for the set plus shipping.

Maybe its unrealistic, but in my opinion why are they advertising something for sale they cant deliver in the 1st place? Not very good for customer relations & future sales
