Brake Calipers
I have to rebuild my calipers and have the o ring kits to do this.
What is the best way to clean the caliper halves? I was thinking about washing/degreasing then bead blasting before painting, is this the way to go?
Are the bores good or are they already stainless sleeved.
I clean them in the parts washer, use some thin brushes to clean the passageways. I found that rubber sink stoppers work good to plug the piston bores when blasting them. VHT makes a good caliper paint.
You want to be sure you have stainless steel sleeved calipers for starters. Assuming you do, you can clean them with brake cleaner and blow the orifices out with compressed air. The caliper sleeves can be renewed with fine steel wool. As for the exterior, just be sure you have the internals protected prior to any blasting.
