Default Fiber Optics

I have 2 fiber optics lines that are cut in the rear lamp assembly. What is the best method of rejoining them. Thanks

Lots of post on this subject lately. Search is your friend. One option is to cut the ends square and clean with a new razor blade and insert the ends into a 1/8 in compression fitting. Tighten as you would to seal a tube.

You said that they were cut "...IN the lamp housings...". Actually, that is where they start. Just the end of the fiber optic cable goes into the housing. From there, it just picks up some light off the bulb and transmits it back to the display lens in your console. Am I missing something here?

Sorry for the wording. They are cut about 6" short of the rear light with not enough play to reroute the cable directly into the light. Some sort of splice would be needed. Sorry.

OK. Check recent threads. There was a similar question last week to which I included the web address for an inexpensive fiber optic repair kit. Just do a search for "fiber optic" in the General and Tech categories.
