It it time to start my new 383 stroker , but I dont know what starter to get. Is there any way to tell if I have a 153 or 168 tooth flywheel short of spining the fly wheel and counting? Also any suggestions on what to gap my plugs at.

I'd suggest the GM Performance Parts catalog ministarter GM PN 12361146. It has a dual mount bolt pattern so it will work with 153 tooth flywheels (12.75 inch) and 68 tooth flywheels (14 inch). It weighs only 10.5 pounds. I use one on my ZZ4.

The same starter you were using before the swap or transplant should be correct.

If you are running an HEI or an aftermarket ignition you can go .045 on your plug gap.
