Default Front tire rub

I just installed new 255/60/15 tires on my original style aluminum mag wheels and when I try to turn the wheel left or right the front of the tire will hit the front fender lip. Is there a fix for this problem besides flaring or trimming the fiberglass? The rims are stock 79 corvette issue mounted on my 75 vette, dont think there are any differences in the two yr model cars, donot want to get rid of my new tires either. Any ideas?

There is more clearance on the '79s wheelwell than on your '75. You basically have some limited choices:
1. Find where the rubbing is occuring and make clearance for it or install some kind of "stops" to prevent the rubbing from happening;
2. Buy or trade for some narrower wheels;
3. Go to 235 [or 245, if the rubbing is minor] tires at the front of the car.

I think that's about it. Good luck.

I couldn't get 245 to fit on the front of my '69. So, had to go to 235. It seems like there is a wide variation in what will fit on any particular C-3.

Good luck.

i went from 225s to 215s on my 72 for this problem. but difference in these 2 sizes was only around a quarter inch but it was enough. didnt want to chance ripping off fender.

255X60X15 on our 72, on full lock it just touches the frame. As Hells Bells73 said, you may have weak springs.

Weak springs you say?? Contrare'. If you examine the geometry closely, you will see that new springs may actually make the problem worse. The front lip of the C3 fender is contoured such that if you lower the chassis, the fender/tire gap will increase at the front where the interference is felt when the wheels are turned outward.
