Hi all, need some input please. my 82 when i accelerate hard everything seems normal but when i let off the accelerator the rearend feels like its sways side to side, not much but noticeable. it was suggested that the clutches in the rearend may be bad, if so how can i be sure. thanks guys!
Jack the rear end up, remove the wheel and get in there with a light and look inside the frame pocket where the TA mounts on the pivot bolt. You Might be able to see the ends of the bushings to tell if they are worn or not, but its kind of doubtfull. Really the only way to check is to take the thing apart. Then you might as well install new bushings.
The upside of that is the symptom your talking about is almost ALWAYS caused by bad bushings.
trailing arms will require special tools, I have read on it but havent attempted it yet. My 78 had the same issues but in my case it was the strut rods and the front pinion mount bushing.
Orange 75 L-82 On your problem I would think you would be able to see the slack in the bushing by trying to move the arm around with the car in the air or a good visual inspection I'm no expert but thats where I would start
