Yeah I am use to the hot exhaust deal as I had OT chrome headers on my jet boat and the sister in law got a reminder that the "shiny round parts in back" are hot
I can see a difference though because I could run my motor in the boat for 20 sec. and the tubes at the heads would burn your skin off, but now the motor is in the vette and has hooker jet hot headers and with the same 20 sec run time you can wrap your hand right around the tube next to the heads and its just warm.
I suppose those muffler insert act as a big heat sink and keep the side pipes nice and toasty even being coated
lwill the heat off hooker side exhaust discolor or make the paint blister.?
thinking about putting them on my 79.
If your exhaust is hot enough to blister paint, you may have a bigger issues to fix. One of our sons has a very nice S-10 V8 conversion and noticed glowing exhaust after driving it a while. The cause of the extreme high temp exhaust was ignition timing - too little advance. The burn started way too late and the charge was still burning hot when the exhaust stroke started. That's rough on valves too, not just paint.
