1982 Corvette that has been vandalized. Window broken into and the engine stolen. I havent gone to actually see it since 1) There was probably colatoral damage when the engine was stolen other than the window and 2) think he is asking too much.
So, what do you think its worth? For arguement sake, lets just say body is decent, interior is decent, and almost everything in the engine bay is gone except for the radiator, condenser, and power brakes.
Edit: last should be $5000 or more

A standard 1982? Anything special about it specifically? Unless it's a CE, I wouldn't pay a thing for it. I'm not running a salvage yard. Might be worth $100 if you tow it to a junk yard. They may come pick it up for you, but then again, it won't weigh much without the motor in it. It's not worth much at all. If you plan on parting it out, you'll be lucky to break even.

I dont own it. Guy in the area is selling it. I want an '82 and this seems like a good car to build up (since I dont want a stock '82) but I think his price is unreasonably high... damn Corvette tax.

WTF??? A 1982 that just needs a motor and a window?? Are you handicapped mentally??
Anyways, if everything else is decent, the car should fetch somewheres near $2K....
It depends on the condition of what's left....and how bad you want it. If in bad condition, $1500 max; if in great condition AND it looks like the car for you, up to $3500. Likely to be somewhere in between.
Who knows what else is damaged. They could have torn up the rad, condenser, evaporator, and on and on, not the least of which could be the tranny when they were yanking the engine out. What is the asking price?

$4800. I'm just checking to see what other vette guys thought since I thought the price was way too high and wanted to see what others thought. Seems like my thoughts were right along with the majority of those who voted.

Sounds like a lot of money to me too. A nice driver, non col. edition '82 would probably go in the low teens, I would guess. But who knows how much $ it would take to get this one there.
I thought the same thing. The only answers I could come up with were a) the engine was fugged up and he'd rather say it was stolen than admit destroying it or b) some dumbass thought he was stealing a high dollar classic engine which he could sell to someone wanting a numbers matching engine.

Balance it with how much it would cost to buy a running car.
