anyone know how you remove the odometer reset cable. The speedometer is already out of the vette. I have it apart but a can't tell how I disconnect the little gear on the end which engages the milage wheels. Thanks
The odometer reset cable screws I to the main speedometer can. This can has a nut made in to it that is threaded to accept the cable assembly. If you are removing the cable from the can, hold the aluminum nut with one wrench while turning the nut made on the cable with another one.
If you are trying to remove the odometer reset mechanism from the speedometer head. You can not remove this unless you remove face, the jewel plate with busing and the odometer first.
Once these items are out of the way, the odometer trip reset mechanism is held in place with a single slotted screw.
You can go to our site and downoload this picture of the parts I'm talking about. It will make it easier for you. http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=145 There are detailed instructions on how to remove the needle and the face on this page as well. While the speedometer pictured is not exactly like yours, most of the parts are so close you should be able to figure this out. If not email us at Willcoxcustomerservice@willcoxcorvette.c om
