Default question on radiator fit

one of the members is selling a 1973 bb rad and fan from dewitts. i've got a 72 i want to install it into. on the dewitts web site the only difference i can see is at the top pass side (73 has a cap, and 72 has a nipple). does anyone know if the 73 will fit a 72 support? any other problems? thanks

No core support crossed over from the 1972-1973 cars. The radiator may work depending on the radiator that is in the car, but I doubt it.

The issue is if you have the aluminum radiator car there is no way it will work. If you have a car with the brass radiator, it may work but I’m not sure if the core will fit the support even if the distance between the tanks is the same.

This may help you.

It depends. The core supports need to be the same distance otherwise it wont properly seat into the lower brackets. Also, aluminum radiators have a central bracket to hold the radiator in place, If your support has central bracket holes on top you can buy a bracket. Lastly, if your car has an expansion tank (overflow tank) you need one with the nipple.

The 73 radiator uses a 27.5" core and so does the 69-72 bb cars. In fact, the only difference is the 73 uses a filler neck and the 69-72 bb uses a surge tank. So, if you buy a new bb core support it will work perfectly. If you have the 69-72 SB copper radiator support (26") you can cut the lower right hand mount off, and move it over 1.5". That is the only difference in the supports. The upper right hand (bolt on) u bracket is different. You'll have to order a bb upper right right bracket. If you have a 69-72 aluminum (pin mount) support, that won't work at all.
