New tach drive gear

New tach drive gear

Before I install a new tach drive gear, what kind of grease should I use on it? White grease okay? There were not instructions with the washer, button, gear and coupler. Thanks.

I would check the mesh before you install the dist back in the car. If it binds by hand the eng will tear it up in no time. Otherwise any good grease will work.

Use a "moly" gear grease. White lithium is OK for slow, rubbing metal parts...but the dizzy gears run at 1/2 engine speed.

Do not under any circumstances replace just the cross gear. You will be buying another gear and a shaft. Replace both together.
