Default Epoxy powder coating ???

I SURE HOPE I HAVEN'T MADE A HUGE MISTAKE!!!
I just picked up my frame from the powder coater. Looks great and I will post pictures in another thread that I have already started. But now I am concerned. I was told that there are different types of powders for coating and that they used the best type for frames,,, "epoxy". He had other frames there and seems to have some business doing frames so I hope he knows what he is doing. I simply asked for powder coating and I picked out the black I wanted which he said matched the original finish almost exactly. He said this finish is very durable but brake fluid will take it off. Oil and grease no problem.

So, did I make a mistake? Is there another type of powder coating I should have used? I thought powder coating was powder coating. I will hold my breath while waiting for some responses.

I think you are fine. You have either epoxy or polyester I believe. I don't think anything stands a chance when up against brake fluid. That's some nasty stuff.

I have silicone BF in all my cars - don't have to worry about it!

I use silicone, go that route, and you'll be fine. One tip wax the frame before you start building.

I read about waxing it somewhere else also. Any recommendations on what to use?

Also, I didn't know they make Silicone brake fluid. So how do I pick this out when the time comes. Just any brake fluid with silicone in it?

Al,
Silicone brake fluid is sold as DOT 5. If everything is new you won't have any compatibility issues with the DOT 3 or 4 residue. One could debate Dot 5 vs 4 all week long. Dot 3 or 4 likes water while DOT 5 likes air.

As far as waxing, just about anything you have. Just make sure if you use an existing wax, make sure there is no dirt in it. Don't want to scratch that new frame. The wax will help stop a scratch if a tool hits.

How about some pics
