Default pitman ball joint removal

i've got to change my steering gear on my 72 with ps. what's the best(aka easiest) way to remove the ball joint that attaches control valve. ther's only about 2" of clearance.

If you're replacing it, use a long handled Pickle Fork. You can buy them or rent them for free at local parts stores.

Just wedge it in between the arm and the joint body and pound the back of the handle with a mini sledge...maybe a 5lb hammer.

Pick yourself up one of these tools:



Once you use one, you will never go back to a pickle fork and a hammer, they work that well.

safe, easy and does not mess up the joints or dust boots. Good when swapping springs.
