I plan on attending a few car shows this spring and summer and a couple of them will be at casinos. Although the casinos have their own security, I'd still like to disable the battery in my 77 Vette while it's parked on their lot overnight. Is it safe to disconnect just one of the battery cables, does it matter which one, or should I disconnect both? I don't mind disconnecting both, just thought it would save time if I only had to do one.
Thanks,
Kenny
I always disconnect the negative first and install negative last. Have you considered a battery disconnect? You should if you want to disconnect multiple times.
You could take a 5/8" socket with you and disconnect the ground from the frame. You'd just have to lay on your back and reach under the car. Or a quick disconnect mounted on the side of the battery works great. If you want theft prevention, unplugged the batt wire off the distributor as well. The car will never crank that way.
Thanks for all the advice. While we're on the subject of theives, my original factory alarm worked up until last week. Just stopped working overnight. Does anyone know where the alarm is actually located on a '77 vette so I can do some troubleshooting?? Thanks.
my 78 is located on the driver's side fender under the mc. I've seen the horn in there anyway for the alarm, I havent gotten that far along on mine yet to trace it all down.
Thats pretty slick, almost what I am looking for. I am looking for a relay like that with 2 operating coils, 1 puls on and 1 pulse off, like on big airplanes.
That one says contious duty, I wonder if it realy is
