76 Front suspension disassembly

76 Front suspension disassembly
What is the the best way to disassenble the front suspension? Should I remove the springs first then the rest?
And ...Here is the biggie: I know that the book says to raise the frame, support (would use a floor jack)the lower arm - remove the pivot arm fasteners - then lower the pivot arm slowly. My question is, can I just undo the upper arm and just raise the frame slowly? By the way, the body is off the frame.

I removed the power steering mechanism, not that hard just a pain to remove some very rusted nuts and bolts. The springs are still on - I looks a bit scary
