I use some nice plain jane A/C's in my car to drive on the street and run 9's. They last forever....
I do have one extra set of colder NGK's I'll throw in it when I'm feelign ambitious before a trip to the track.....but no guarantee I'll feel that excited. Doesn't seem to make any difference in performance.
I installed a set on my barbecue to ensure hyper energetic ignition of the flame. They're so powerful I had to change the label from Binford 9500 to Binford 9500XRL. You can't get better than that.
It was incredible how much better my food seemed to taste, I actually imagined that my hamburger was filet mignon.
Original equipment or equivalent spark plugs are all that's necessary outside of a built-up engine whose requirements may be different. If an engine came with exotic plugs originally, than that's oe and should be replaced with the equivalent. If it came with standard design plugs, that's all that's needed.
I tried a set of Splitfire plugs once...in a couple of months two of them had cracked their ceramics. I replaced them with oe plugs...no more problems.
Buy whatever brand you like...I have AC's in my '69...others like something else. The speed shop I frequent only uses NGK. Years ago I worked in a JC Penney auto center. We used JC Penney brand spark plugs, made by Prestolite. They worked as well as any other brand plug and we had no trouble or unhappy customers with them. Regardless, use the correct plug for the application, correct heat range, correct gap and you're good to go. If the brand decal to put on your car is important, than buy that brand.
