So I have a tko that I'm looking to install and need a mount. I called Keisler and got nothing but attitude about how I didn't buy my trans from them and how they spent all this time and money on developing the mount and would not sell me the mount. They even said the nice "oh I'll sell you the mount for 2,XXX but it will come with a spare trans." So anyway i need a trans mount can anyone help with a suggestion?
If the design is patented they shouldn't have to worry about someone stealing it, which was the reason I got when I asked about buying a mount for a T56. I didn't see any individual components listed for sale at classicchevy5speed either but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm working on my own mount now, using the original crossmember and about $15.00 worth of parts. No welding involved.

There was no attitude given to you. Jeff explained to you several times that we don't sell them separately. I then had to explain it to you and I don't recall giving you attitude. I think you took it as attitude because you didn't get what you wanted. This will always be the same we will not sell those parts separately. We are not a parts company we are a transmission company.
I'm not saying that I'm a marketing expert-I was in sales and marketing for 20+ years....And I didn't sleep at a Holiday Express last night...
I've learned- the customer is always right (maybe just in his mind)-That a pissed off customer tells 10 people while the satisfied customer only tells 2. Now with the internet- I think it's probably at least 10,000 hear the bad.
Why don't you sell just the trans mount? Or, other parts. I would think there's enough profit in it? I would think that would HELP sales. If you don't -somebody else certainly will. My $.02.

I know this to be the rule, but we shouldn't have done anything to make him mad. We just don't sell the parts outright.
We shouldn't be penalized for not wanting to sell the part.

I doubt that the design is patented as BTO (Bowtie Overdrives) used to sell the same bracket for the TH700R4..long time before Keissler started selling TKO's. That's where I got mine when I bought my TKO a while back and Keissler didn't even exist then..
Unfortunately, they stopped selling that bracket.

Really no attitude is saying "I'll sell you one but it is coming with a new trans" shows great attitude and great customer service. so if i called and i had bought the kit form you got in an accident and needed a new cross mount you would tell me we don't sell only that part? or would you say hey ok mister customer the part is XXX and we will get that out to you. you pissed that i didn't buy a kit from you and i pissed because you won't sell me parts. fair enough i guess you win since i don't have a mount...... but why turn business away? i tell you what if i ever do anything like this again you can bet i will not be coming to you guys nor will i be sending any business your way. i understand your in the business of selling transmissions not "parts" but as i look at your site i see lots of parts flywheels, clutches, bellhousings, pedals, shifter handles. i don't get it why would you not want to sell "parts" and make money.
Understand you not wanting to be a "Parts store" like selling spark plugs, fenders, hoods, seat belts......
But how hard is it to sell parts that are only ment for what you sell
aka "transmissions"
And only your brand transmissions.
Cant imagine how many parts you would have to stock but keeping a few extra on hand would make sense
I was looking for a tko-600 and ran into some problems in getting a response for a price quote back from KEISLER so a fellow forum member turned me onto Classic5speed and the same day I got a price from Jeff and ordered it that day.
Seems KEISLER 's customer service might need a little TLC
Geez guys....all this over a trans mount? This has been our policy for 9 years now. It's not like it's something new here. We have only sold the mount outright once since we've been in business and funny thing....right after we sold that stand alone mount, a new competitor opened up shop in this market. Matter of fact, we did the same thing once for a Mopar guy and shortly after that, said competitor showed up with a new, familar looking Mopar kit.
well then if the mount is made by your competitor then there is no reason to worry about me stealing your idea and selling it. but i'll buy it from your competitor.
like i said, if i was your customer and got in an accident, or some how wrecked the trans mount you would sell it to me but make me buy a trans too? i don't think so. your mad that i didn't buy the trans from you. you don't even sell the one i have.
These guys (5 Spd) are the epitome of 'tude. If you aren't gonna drop 20 large on them, they don't have the decency to even call you back when they've stated they would with a 'quote'.

Fixed that for you....
By the way, if you had our kit and got into a wreck and needed a new mount, then yes, we would absolutely send you a new one.

You obviously aren't on here that much or you would see that I am all over this forum helping guys who didn't even buy our kit. Try asking Gavonm or durangoboy about me.
Like any business Kiesler decides what they sell and what they dont... in this case they dont...we have found the mount for you elsewhere - buy it and move on.
If you dont like kiesler for whatever reason swell, but this issue was resolved 3 days ago.
I don't really see what the big deal about that mount.. My race car builder can build a mount that will work in 1 - 2 hours..
Anybody that has fabrication equipment and some skills can make up a mount that will work just fine.
I recently had my fabrication guy cut my crossmember and make one for the powerglide that I installed. Cost me about $200 and it works great. He could do the same for any other tranny..
One thing that I'm wondering is WHO COPIED WHO when it comes to that transmission mount.. Bowtie Overdrives sold those brackets that look almost identical to the one that Keissler and forthgearinc.com are selling long time before TKO's were even available for GM applications.. Sure, they MARKETED their bracket for TH700R4's but as the 700R4 and the TKO have a identical mounting location, the bracket for either transmission is IDENTICAL!!!
