Evaporator canister? Do I need it?
Putting on the new headers and noticed the evap canister was looking kinda cruddy, pulled it out, shined it all up and was going to put it back and got to thinking, why do I need this? The only line hooked to it was the vapor line to the fuel tank. I guess the PO had trashed everything when he put the Holley on. Anybody see any reason for putting it back in the hole? It doesnt have to pass emissions testing or anything.

I removed mine too. The only things you'll have to deal with is installing a vented gas cap and a slight fuel smell in your garage.
That's about all that'll happen if you don't put it back in.

Look at it this way.... If you put it back in, you'll have the CLEANEST cannister in your area! {Plus, it will be back to original condition and the Mother Nature will be happier. There is no real "downside" to putting it back in.}

I have one of these as well that I noticed when working on my brake booster. It is connected up to the base of the carburetor next to where the PCV hose connects at the carb.
Question, is the outlet on the carb that this is hooked to supposed to have a vacuum pull on it? When I remove the hose from the carb base, engine running, there is no vacuum at that outlet....should there be or is it just a vent?
