Default Balljoint ?

I'm using bolts on the new joints.
Haynes gives a torque spec of 25 ft lbs and chilton is 50.

Which one is right?

It depends on the 'grade' of bolt you are using. If grade 8's, probably over 40 ft-lbs.

Default Ball Joint Torque

I recently did this and my ball joints came with 5/16 -24 thread bolts (fine thread) and were grade 8. The torque for this size bolt is 30 ft.lbs. for a grade 8 and 25 ft.lbs. for a grade 8 course thread (5/16-18).

For a grade 5 fine thread it is 23 ft.lbs and 21 ft.lbs. for a course thread in 5/16 size.
