Default Shark Bar Installed

I finally got around to getting all the belts in the car after the install. I used my son as a test figure to get the belts adjusted up. We then went for about an hour ride. The belts were quite comfortable and did not bother us at all. They do really lock you in and it is tough to just roll the windows up and down. I did not care about that. I wanted to feel secure in the car and not move around on hard cornering. I felt as though I was always hanging on to the wheel. This all went away.

Something was different about the car though. I was about 15 minutes into the drive noticing the car felt more solid. Gone were the rattles and the body shake you get with a Vert. I found myself heading for the rough spots just to confirm this. I hit all the spots that usually rattle my teeth out. Much to my pleasure the car was rock solid. I could not believe the difference.

I put the bar in for the belts but I am happier with the rattle free, no shake of the car even more. It really makes the body of the car solid.

Ok here are the pictures. I know I have a Simpson and a G Force belt in the car. I have another set of G Force belts on the way. I just had to drive it so Iput in the Simpson belts. I may look into a set of seats that allow the shoulder harness to pass through the upper part. It is a tight wrap around the upper part of the seat. I am just enjoying the comfort of the C5 seats though.

Here is the mounting on the wheelwell.

Yes it is a bolt in install. I had to move a few wires slightly and trim the plastic molding a little but nothing major.

I've got mine coming with hoops but from a different supplier (same as 69 MyWay's), can't wait to get it in. Just Like Gordonm, I was tired of using my interior parts for leverage to keep me in my seat, especially my Hurst shifter

I always thought that I should put a Hurst shifter in the vette, as that is my last name anyway.

What you are looking at is the rear mount of the bar. The front of the bar mounts to a brcket that is bolted to where the convertible top bolts to the birdcage. This is what gives my car more body stability. It ties the two sides together at the top of the body. I would get a good amount of body shake going over bumps. This has helped quite a bit.

Awesome Gordon,

That looks like a great install. Did you get yours from the guy out here (in Washington)?

It looks like I'll have to postpone that mod for next year. I decided to put the Keisler 5 speed in. It'll be going to the shop for its install.

Wish me luck!

Andy

oh.... the 550 front coils were indeed a marked improvement!

I'll bet, thats going to create a huge stabalizing factor. thow a spreader bar in the front if you got electric fans and go auto-Xing!

Good observation. they are not the same. they don't go in the same lacation. that means you can install both in the same car, right?
