Default Whats not right here????

Do rad hoses require alot of persuasion to install? I have a 1970 350 SB and a dewitt 26"aluminum radiator. I triple checked to make sure the rad hoses were the correct ones before ordering(i even asked the salesperson from corvette central), yet it seems like they dont fit the car. The upper hose will either hit the fan or it will kink, it also seems about 3" too short. The upper hose part number i have is 3935466. The lower hose seems about 6 inched too long and it wont even point in the general direction of the rad. The part number for the lower is 3917669. Have i got the right hoses and just need to bend them alot?

Did you try turning the upper hose around to see if it would fit? Looking at the pictures I think it might.

That hose is for a car with an original aluminum radiator.

Your new aluminum radiator is a duplicate of the original copper / brass unit and the upper necks are not anything alike.

You need the upper hose with GM original part # 3946852

I will get a photo and post it shortly

He is a photo of a 72 LT-1 that uses the upper hose you need. The basic difference is the upper neck on you radiator and the one in the photo bends inward about 90 degrees and upward about 45 degrees.

The hose you received is for a radiator that the upper outlet points straight back toward the fire wall

Hope this helps

David

Thanks Durango Boy

I have been looking for a correct radiator for my 71 LT-1 for months.

So I have read up quite a bit.

I rather find a old original unit for the looks and don't really have the funds for a De Witts anyway.

Thanks

David

Possibly an early or late radiator.
