Motor Mount Spacers
Could someone please tell me the purpose of the "V" shaped spacers that mount underneath the motor mounts on a Big Block. They were under the mounts on my original 1971 454ci. with A/C. I had read they were only on 427's with A/C. Thanks...Doug

i researched into this when changing from sb to bb and could find no "official" reason other than the bb a/c cars req'd them. someone told me it was to create clearance for something-didn't know for what. my combo didn't seem to need them; maybe someone else has new news . . .

The only thing I can think spacers would do is raise the engine relative to the frame. This in turn would raise the fan in regard to its position within the fan shroud. I guess its possible that it was for aligning these components properly.

66-74 BIG BLOCK with AC MOTOR MOUNT SHIM These Cadmium plated 1/8" thick steel shims, mount between the block & the motor mounts. They are essential to keep the carb float bowls level on all Air Conditioned Big Blocks. 2 reqd.
