Heat riser with edelbrock intake
Does anyone know if the exhaust heat riser on an 81 can be used with an edelbrock performer vortec manifold? If my technical knowledge is correct, the heat riser routes the exhaust gases through an exhaust bypass in the manifold, allowing the exhaust to exit the opposite manifold, warming the engine up quicker.

Is there more data to go along with this question because unless you are planning a Vortec head swap to accompany the Vortec intake, you can not run a Vortec intake on your '81. If you use the Edelbrock 60979 Aluminum Vortec heads for example, they do not have a heat crossover cast into them and would require an electric choke for your carb which your '81 should have. The heat crossover also functions to provide some minimal exhaust balance from side to side.
