Default Help with mystery hose

I was cleaning the engine compartment last night and discovered a hose that I possibly could have broken, although it is completely brittle and needs to be replaced regardless. It is white or light tan in color, and has an outside diameter of approximately an 1/8". I traced it coming out of the firewall (closer to the passenger side just off center of the firewall), and in fact, it's one of three of the same kind (diameter) of hoses coming from the same "thru connector" (wrong name - I know). This particular hose then travels to the passenger fender, up and behind (or over) the radiator overflow bottle, and towards the front of the car. I don't know where it terminates towards the front of the car because I have an L-82 with the fender air intake duct blocking my view. BTW, I figure it can't be a vacuum hose, and I may be wrong, because #1) the inside diameter has got to be too small for any worthy vacuum, and #2) I thought the vacuum lines run primarily down the drivers side (again, I may be wrong on this). My lights go up and down fine - just a little slow and not in synch. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to replace it, but I don't know where it terminates.

I'll try to take some pics when I get out of work! I'm sure this will help.

thanks Wuttin!!!

you can check to see if this is what the mystery hose is by having someone (you trust) sit in your running car, moving the A/C controls through the full range while you are on the end of the mystery hose listening-checking for changes. if confirmed that it is for the heater by-pass, you can plug the end and tuck away, or re-install the by-pass.

If it is for the hot water valve the line should not be ending up in the front of the car. The valve is located on the passenger side (at least on a 78) between the firewall and the overflow tank.

Look at this pic and on the top is a connection where a white line attaches. This valve is plastic and will work. If you want an original it would probably cost about $55.
